Holy Crap! Another New Festival Announcement!
Yes, that's right! A (kinda) new festival is set to hit Margaret River in March!
The MASS Music Festival has been announced today, which is pretty much a nice, revamped version of the festival formerly known as the Margaret River Masters.
And it's promising to bring you waves of talent!
MASS is part of the Drug Aware Pro, presented by Rusty and is a unique combo of Music, Arts, Surf and Style. And god knows everyone loves an acronym. The festival, held from 16–21 March will add a creative and lifestyle element to the surf competition in and around the surf capital of WA, Margaret River.
Festivities will kick off after the Women's Final on Saturday arvo, March 20. Perth's favourite boys of rock Gyroscope will be headlining, and fans will finally get a taste of their highly anticipated new album Cohesion, with hit track 'Live Without You' already on high rotation this summer at Triple J.
Joining them will be prog-rockers Cog, and super-mega-fun band Eddy Current Suppression Ring, fresh from blowing the top off the St Jeromes Laneway Festival last weekend with their on stage antics.
Giving them a run for their money in the on-stage crazy times will be Philidelphia Grand Jury, and just to balance things out a bit, mellow groovers Tame Impala will be getting their psychadelic freak on too!
MC Urthboy will be there to satisfy the Aussie hip-hop contingent, along with Yacht Club DJs and local kid wonders King George.
Finally, opening the MASS Music Festival will be the winner of a local band competition to be held on Wednesday March 17 at The Settlers Tavern in Margaret River. Local bands will need to apply by emailing their details including band biography, imagery and an mp3 (under 6MB), to Artist Liaison Manager, Bruna Chiovitti bruna@sunsetevents.com.au
